39th Annual Belleville – Trenton Warm-up Race

Organizing Authority – The CFB Trenton Yacht Club
1. Rules:
This race shall be governed by “The Racing Rules of Sailing” 2021 - 2024 and Sail Canada prescriptions except as may be changed by the Sailing Instructions.
2. Eligibility and Entry:
2.1. This race is open to all members sailing yachts from the following clubs, Bay of Quinte Yacht Club, Presqu’ile Yacht Club, Prince Edward Yacht Club, and the CFB Trenton Yacht Club and their respective guest yachts, if any.
2.2. The race is open to all classes of boats.
2.3. Late entries will not be accepted.
2.4. Skippers are to provide the Yacht Name, Skipper’s Name, Yacht Class, Waterline Length, sail number and number of bodies on board, to their respective club race officers.
3. Schedule:
3.1. All skippers are to register with their respective clubs, no later than 18:00 on Wednesday May 18th
3.2. Club race officers will provide information as per section 2.4 to the Organizing Authority Race Officer no later than 18:00 on Thursday May 19th. (by fax or scanned copy of sign-up sheet)
3.3. The race will begin at 13:30 on Saturday May 21st
4. Sailing Instructions:
The sailing instructions will be available at your respective clubs on Monday May 16th at 17:00.
5. The Course:
The diagrams in the attachment to this Notice of Race show the possible courses and how the course will be determined and indicated on race day. In general, the course will be from the Start Line just west of the Belleville Bridge to CFB Trenton with the finish line being as shown on the attached diagram. A Flag will be displayed at the Fixed Light in “The Narrows” to signal which course is to be used for the balance of the race depending upon the wind conditions. The “finish line” will be marked by a line between the Race Committee boat and Bakers Island. All Marks are to be kept to starboard. The Fixed Light (Lighthouse) may be passed on either side. It is NOT a mark. Marks QT16 and QT 18 are to be kept to Starboard.
6. Penalty System:
6.1. The scoring penalty rule 44.3 will apply.
6.2. Rule 30.1 will apply at the start line.
7. Handicap/Scoring System:
The handicap system to determine positions for this race shall be the Waterline +1 system with no PHRF-LO certificate being required to enter the race. Corrected time will be determined by the Race Committee. Course A is 11.5 nautical miles, course B 9 nm and course C 6 nm. Your respective clubs will determine your internal system required for awarding of club trophies.
8. Radio Communications:
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. Channel 72 shall be used to communicate with racers. (All racers, all racers)
9. Prizes:
Prizes will be awarded by your respective clubs. Positions in the overall race will be announced at the après race BBQ to be held at the CFB Trenton clubhouse.
10. Disclaimer of Liability:
Competitors participate in the race entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4-Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during, or after the race.
11. Insurance:
Each participating boat will be insured with valid third-party liability insurance as prescribed by your respective clubs.
